Sedation Dentistry
Comfort is essential to your positive dental experience, and modern medicine has presented many resources to us. Dr. Burch leveraged these contemporary sedation dentistry and anesthesia so that you, our valued patient, will enjoy rewarding dental care with total peace of mind and body.
We offer these options for your comfort:
- General Anesthesia – Dr. Burch brings in a certified anesthesiologist to administer general anesthesia to patients when necessary. General anesthesia will induce sleep during a dental procedure.
- Conscious Sedation – Conscious sedation involves oral medication and, in some instances, nitrous oxide (laughing gas). You will stay conscious during your procedure, so you'll retain the ability to communicate with and respond to Dr. Burch; many patients retain little or no memory of their conscious sedation dentistry visits.
- IV Sedation – With IV sedation, we’ll administer anesthesia through your vein. This allows us to monitor the amount of anesthesia given and adjust it as necessary. Depending upon your situation, we can administer just enough to dull your senses or enough to make you feel like you're in a twilight state.
- Nitrous Oxide – Nitrous oxide, often referred to as laughing gas, is administered through a nosemask. This gas reduces the body's ability to sense pain, which makes dental procedures more comfortable. After a nitrous oxide appointment, patients can immediately return to normal daily activities.
- The Wand – For comfortable, constant local anesthesia, Dr. Burch uses The Wand, a digital anesthesia delivery system.
If you suffer from dental fear, stress, anxiety, phobia, or discomfort when sitting for long periods in one position, please let Dr. Burch know. He'll discuss your sedation dentistry options and help you decide on the best solution for your unique situation.
